It appears there are petitions circulating, on and off the net, to beg J.K.Rowling not to make Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows the last book in the series, or at least the last book in the world she’s created.

I have mixed feelings. I don’t want the series to end any more than any other fan, but on the other hand there’s nothing worse than seeing (say) a favorite show drag on (and sometimes on, and on) past its prime. I think I’d be more inclined to say it would be cool to have stories continue in the world of HP—Hogwarts and so forth—not necessarily with HP as the main character. I mean, once he’s defeated Voldemort, most everything else will seem like a bit of a climax, no?

Anyhow, here’s the big petition on the net, if you want to add your name to it. I’m still pondering…
