Msgr. Lorenzo Albacete on Christmas
November 30th, 2007
My mom and I had the great pleasure of hearing Msgr. Lorenzo Albacete, author of God at the Ritz, and Gregory Wolfe, editor of Image journal, in Portland on Wednesday evening at an event hosted by the Communion and Liberation movement. They were discussing the issue of Beauty — the sometimes forgotten sister of Truth and Goodness — and how Beauty is a necessary part of an authentic encounter with Christ. Both Wolfe and Albacete offered refreshing, entertaining, and articulate perspectives on how Beauty functions in the drama of salvation. I took copious notes, and hope to write up a reflection on the evening very soon. In the meantime, take a look at Msgr. Albacete on Charlie Rose, where he was invited to discuss Christ’s impact on the world on the last Christmas eve of last millennium. He’s such a charming, gloriously entertaining man, and with double doctorates in astrophysics and theology, he’s also pretty smart.
